You Can Do It!
"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phil 1:6)
In the first part of the book to the brethren at Philippi Paul encouraged the brethren to stick with their support of the gospel. The brethren in Philippi were fellow partakers with Paul in spreading the gospel. They sent and Paul went. At the time Paul wrote the letter he was in prison and the brethren had many reasons to become discouraged about the spreading of the gospel. Yet, Paul assures them, "my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel" and "He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil 1:12). The Christians at Philippi needed to keep on supporting the gospel because fruit was being produced and the results of their work had an eternal impact.
Now then, understanding the context of the above statement originally, take a moment to make it more personal. Bring the same thoughts home where you live. Let the words of Paul encourage and inspire.
Do you see yourself there? Do you think you will make it? Heaven that is. Vivit reality or dim dream?
I'm afraid we just don't think we can make it. We have started down the path of righteousness with our stumbling feet. We tripped over some stones a ways back. And, we never saw the root of that tree sticking out of the ground. Then there was the cliff. At the precipice we almost lost it all. We could see the darkness and feel the heat of the pit. It is indeed a perilous journey. But, with our lamp and guide we can make it (Ps 119:105).
The Lord started something good in you. It began at the moment you left the world and started walking with the Savior. When the Lord starts something good He completes it. Keep on working. Stick to it. The only one that can bring us through is the Lord. And, if we continue to trust and obey our life will have eternal impact for us and otheres.
Heaven. Make it a reality.
